The Wrong Way Round & Round Awards Night
Thursday 25 September 2014
8pm to 9.30pm
The Bell Inn, Yatton Keynell

All riders and supporters of the Wrong Way Round bike ride are invited to this year’s Awards Night. It’s a great opportunity to meet again with other local cyclists, re-live the big day, and just enjoy a drink or two.

All riders of the 2014 event, please come along to be awarded your completion certificate. Family, friends supporters and fan clubs also most welcome.

We also have family team certificates to present to teams of three or more from the same family, plus all parent-and-offspring teams.

New for this year, we have prizes for everyone completing five laps to reach the mythical distance of 97 miles. Many thanks to local business The IT Guy for sponsorship of these prizes.

As per tradition, we will also be presenting the Wrong Way Round Special Awards. There’s still time to send in your nominations for:

The Chairman’s Cup, presented in memory of Chris Dash – a sort of ‘player of the match’ prize, awarded to the person best encapsulating the spirit of the event.

Nominations so far:

  • The senior Yatton Keynell resident who only recently started cycling, joining the event with gusto and raising money for charity.
  • The junior Yatton Keynell resident, also new to cycling, who did three laps.

The Golden Sprockets – for the most impressive cycling feat.

Nominations so far:

  • The rider who did five laps on five different bikes
  • The rider who did a lap on a very heavy vintage butchers bike
  • The rider that filled every second of the day, starting at 6am and finishing spot on 4pm.

The Golden Stabiliser – for the unluckiest rider, or for any noteworthy event.

Nominations so far:

  • The rider who easily completed five laps then managed to fall off by hitting a curb just before turning into the pub carpark.
  • The rider who recorded some surprisingly fast laps, before we realised he was lost and taking a short cut every time.
  • The Yatton Keynell resident who wasn’t even doing the ride, but still scammed a free bike service from the Halfords mechanics.

Please send any nominations for people you think deserve a special award, and please put the Awards Night date in your diary. That’s Thursday 25 September 2014 at The Bell.

see you there!
