Sevington Victorian School will be open to the public every Sunday afternoon from May 18th to September 14th. It’s a chance to explore the perfectly preserved Victorian schoolroom, take tea in the parlour and stroll in the garden. There are children’s activities and Miss Squire herself will be on hand to explain her teaching methods and give short demonstrations throughout the afternoon.
This year, to get us in the swing, we’re running a workshop at Yatton Keynell Village Hall on Saturday 17th May. Called Corsets and Crinolines, it features a presentation by a re-enactment group, a historic costumier talks about her work and there are tips on Victorian etiquette. If you’d like to come it’s £10 per head, concessions £7.50 and it starts at 10.00 For further information please contact Dinah Starkey on 01225 755713 or e-mail starkeyd3@aol.com
