Windows

We have just completed work on refurbishing our church windows. One of the windows has been completely taken out and the bars on the outside have had new metal tips and been put back in, so that they don’t rust and damage the stone work. All the other windows have been professionally cleaned and the bars painted on the outside. We were grateful to Wiltshire Historic Churches for giving us a grant for this of £3,000. We hope to take part in their cycle ride again this September – more info to follow.

Ordinations

June was an exciting month with Gillian Parkin being ordained as a Deacon at Bristol Cathedral on Saturday 29th June and Rev Velma Oxley being ordained as a Priest at Bristol Cathedral on Sunday 30th June. Both Gillian and Velma will be regularly leading services across the Benefice.

Our next event is the joint venture with the Parish Council on Sunday 11th August when we will be offering cream teas at the Market Cross from 3pm. Donations towards the church refurbishment programme. Do come along and join in. (anyone willing to bake scones do let me know).

Summer activities

There are new activities during the summer for the children – take a look at Jonathan’s notes in the Bybrook news.

Maybe see you on Sunday for a special service at St. Margaret’s to celebrate Food for Thought with Sea Sunday. Even though we are miles from the sea it shouldn’t stop us thinking of our fishermen.
